Jarmo van Berkel

Jarmo van Berkel (born in 1988) is a contemporary artist based in Amsterdam. Renowned for his avant-garde paintings and engaging cultural events, Jarmo's artistic pursuits extend beyond the canvas. A multifaceted creative, he is an active DJ and the host of a weekly radio show on Salto, Amsterdam's public radio station.

Jarmo's work blends the worlds of graffiti and fine art. Primarily using spray cans, acrylics, and markers on walls, canvas or any surface that needs paint. Jarmo curates a diverse portfolio showcasing murals, album covers, posters, logos, and various graphic designs with a focus on cultural expression. In 2017, he graduated from Academie Minerva in Groningen, earning international recognition by winning the annual art competition during his exchange at Ohio State University. Additionally, he also gained valuable experience through an internship with Amsterdam-based illustrator Stefan Glerum.

Jarmo's art can be characterized as bold, vibrant, and raw, exuding a sense of dynamic movement and radiating optimism for the people of this planet and their future.

Born on the same date as the iconic Keith Haring, Jarmo draws inspiration from legendary artists such as Haring, Dali, Basquiat, and Van Gogh. However, his primary wellspring of creativity stems from his immediate surroundings and the diverse array of individuals who populate his world.
